Big Steel Housing
We are using four 40’ boxes in the first home we are building at our Abbotsford store. Yes, we are building a house out of BigSteelBoxes. Cutting construction costs by as much as 50% is the primary benefit for using BigSteelBoxes in housing, but they are also much stronger and more structurally sound than anything you would normally build with.
Creating temporary housing for work camps is one of the most obvious uses for BigSteelBox housing. Homes created from BigSteelBoxes are much more secure and durable than traditional camp style housing made from trailers, and there are many custom options available.
While they are meant to be temporary and mobile, they can also feel much more permanent than a typical camp. So, for sites where housing will remain for a significant period, housing made from BigSteelBoxes can feel more like home to the work force.
In addition, what started primarily as a way to build affordable housing, is now looked at as an environmentally sound alternative to using other materials.
