Because this is the first post*, it makes sense to provide a little overview of what you can expect from the BigSteelBlog.

At BigSteelBox, we rent, sell and modify steel shipping containers, but the focus of our business is to make our customer’s lives easier.

Whether you’re looking for a better way to move or store your belongings, secure storage on the job site or an innovative housing solution, we want BigSteelBox to be the simplest solution to your needs.

So, the BigSteelBlog is all about ways to use a BigSteelBox to make our lives easier. While there is a great deal of good information on our website, the role of the Blog will be to showcase innovative modifications, provide tips and share 3rd party information on moving, storage and containerized housing.

For example, check out the cool BigSteelBox that we turned into a Harley garage. This custom modification features a checker plate floor and ramp, space for a tool box, a fridge, beer keg and TV. It’s not only a secure place to park a Harley Davidson (or other prized possession), it’s also a simple way to get a little guy time.

*Not only is this the first post, it’s my first blog, so I went to Dummies.com to get some ideas. I read that you should ask for comments, so please let me know what you think.

Wow, looks great guys! I am impressed. I originally came to the web site looking to rent a container for the duration of some renovations and building a garage, but now I have to consider some other uses for a container!

As for the one showing in the picture, I am curious to know if it's outside and/or will be used during the winter. If so, how is this thing for space-heating and heat retention?

Anyway, great idea for a blog, and awesome mod.

Wow, what a great idea, I love it. Since this made such a great "craft room" for the guys, bet you could make a great one for the girls!

I've been contemplating for some time building a part 'earth sheltered' 'U shaped' home using 40' containers on/in the steep hillside (near the observatories) on highway 3 heading E out of Osoyoos..

I wonder if all modern containers have the same shape and dimensions of corrugations in their steel (or ali) walls, and thus whether there is a market for a matching moulded EPS block ( I have a contact in Surrey BC who moulds EPS , up to R40 and used as ICF building blocks) that could be fixed either inside or outside to add insulation?

You have done a great job on this Harley home, I'm looking forward to seeing more conversions!
