Niteo Africa

Nov. 29 2011

Niteo Africa is doing something amazing! Created out of a passion to educate African children, founder Karine Veldhoen has been moving this initiative forward...and FAST! Niteo Africa collects out-dated textbooks from schools in British Columbia who are ready to send them to recycling, loads them inside a BigSteelBox, and ships them over to Uganda. These resources are in turn used to educate children in areas where books are few, and with the Eva Ruf Resource Center (also started by Niteo) children also have a place to meet and learn before and after school. What a wonderful thing you are doing. I have just returned from Kenya, and am planning to put together a 20' container to send to the orphanage/school that I was staying at. Any information would be greatly appreciated! I need my container to leave Vancouver by June, so that it will be there when i arrive in September. Thank you !

Awsome idea. Just wondering what happened to the container once all the books were distributed

Bruce, the container was kept on site to store any additional books that were in the process of being distributed. Niteo is looking at possibly using BigSteelBoxes to build a library/resource center this year over in Uganda, and this particular container could be a part of that. Thanks for your interest in Niteo Africa and BigSteelBox.
